Service Learning

Service Learning at Elkton Middle
Service learning is a CCPS graduation requirement.  Each student in grade 6, 7, 8, and 9 must complete a service project.  In middle school these projects are teacher directed.  Each student must complete the project in order to graduate.  Our Elkton Middle School Service Learning Coordinator is Mrs. Nicole Longewat. Please feel free to contact her via e-mail at nilongeway@ccps.org or by phone at 410-996-5012 if you have any questions.

Stay tuned for more information on the 2016/2017 service learning projects!

Meritorious Hours:
These are hours volunteered, for a non-profit organization in the community, over and above what is required for a service project.  Students who volunteer at a non-profit organization need to complete a validation form and turn it into Mrs. DiStefano in the guidance office.  Service learning validation forms are available in the guidance office and on the CCPS website.  During the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd marking period recognition rallies, students are recognized for any hours they have accumulated during that marking period.  Students who have earned 50 hours will be recognized at our final recognition rally and students who have accumulated 100 hours during their middle school years will earn a pin in 8th grade.  All meritorious hours are to be reported to the guidance office by May 1.
Service Learning Forms:
This form is available in the guidance office or on-line.
